A summer of organ music

This summer is going to be CRAZY for local pipe organ freaks here in Uusikaupunki, Finland… The Marcussen organ of the local main Lutheran church has it’s 150th anniversary this year (it’s the oldesr Marcussen organ in Finland!) and many prominent organists are coming here to perform on it throughout the year… Kalevi Kiviniemi, one[…]

Some pretty serious stuff…

Just read from today’s news that 3 people have been killed in a pizzeria today in the town of Laukaa, Central Finland… My deepest condolences for the families and relatives of those who died. Just wondering what’s going on in this country? It’s not that long ago when a similar attack happened in the town[…]

Busy weekend

I had quite a busy weekend… On Saturday I was accompanying the tenor Perttu Mathlin in the Turku Baptist Church in Turku, Finland, and on Sunday I played the piano at the local Pentecostal Sunday service here in Uusikaupunki, and later in the evening I accompanied an amateur choir at a Lutheran evening mass in[…]

Piae Cantiones

I just came across a GREAT web resource for early music… A person called Mats Lillhannus has transcribed all the Piae Cantiones songs in modern notation and put them as free downloads on his website. Great work, Mats Lillhannus! I guess everybody know what Piae Cantiones is? Well – it’s a medieval songbook, originally from[…]

Russ Taff

I attended a concert by the world-famous Christian artist Russ Taff yesterday night… He had a concert in Keuruu, Finland, with a Finnish band and Finnish background vocals. It was a quite nice concert, although there were not so many people in the audience… In recent years the Bible College of the Finnish Pentecostal movement[…]

America the Beautiful

I’ve started doing an arrangement of the classic American patriotic song “America the Beautiful”… I’ll post it here when it’s done … Oh, and yesterday I was at a 4th of July cook-out party organized by a Finnish-American family that lives here in Uusikaupunki, Finland… They belong to the same church as me and I’ve[…]

Excerpts from a project

Hi there everybody! Just wanted to say that here’s a link to a YouTube video that has excerpts from the aforementioned Finnish gospel album for which I provided keyboard and some other instrument tracks: Enjoy! The songs are in Finnish, but you might recognize some of them.

Coming home from a gig

Some beautiful landscape footage from my trip back home from a gig (I was accompanying the tenor Perttu MAthlin in an Israel-related Christian congregation in Pori) … How dares someone call Finland an UGLY country?!??!!? I put my song “Dream” as the background music, since it fits the content very well in my opinion 😀
