I was at a VERY nice concert yesterday… the pianist Risto Lauriala and the cellist Olli Varonen had a nice chamber music concert at the local Lutheran congregational center in Uusikaupunki…
First, I have to confess to you that I actually fell asleep during that concert 🙂 Not because it was bad, but because I was somehow tired. I woke up, however, and enjoyed the rest of the concert 🙂 I just hope that I didn’t snorr…
The duo played some really interesting pieces, and I especially liked when Mr. Lauriala played Chopin’s Ballad No. 1 in G minor. That piece is just stunning – it brings to my mind the Roman Polanski movie “The Pianist” where the main character plays this piece with an abandoned and untuned grand piano for a Nazi military officer who later starts to help the Jewish pianist…
Yeah… it was a nice concert…
